Daman and Trilogy Help Drive Ford's Online Success An Internet joint venture between Ford Motor Company and Trilogy Software. The new (so far unnamed company) will serve as Ford Motor Company’s full-service e-business partner and is intended to develop and operate all of Ford’s customer-facing Web sites. It will also offer similar services to Ford’s dealers around the world. Project Objectives To design and support development of all of Ford Motor Company's customer-facing Web sites. In addition provide an automotive exchange that will offer services to Ford's dealers around the world. Rolled out multiple website for each type of car and service, for eg: www.buyerconnection.com, www.designyourvolvo.com, www.fleet.ford.com, each with interactive and high-profile interfaces to attract web users and provide connectivity across disparate channels (phone, fax, email, XML) Key Challenges Create a component based infrastructure that is extensible and be used to roll out multiple websites, thereby maximizing reuse of deployed technologies. This was also a global roll-out thereby requiring multi-lingual support and site specific personalization techniques and presentation designs. Daman’s Contribution Daman played a role in the Human Interface Design, building flexible partner information exchange bridges, adapters to myriad communication devices, such as faxes, phones, auto-mails, XML based communication protocols and provided development services using tools such as Microsoft Site Server, Java/COM classes, ASP, Oracle, SQL Server, biztalk server and the Trilogy tool suite. |
